Adolescent Health & Youth Development Programs
The following programs are offered to teens through the Office of Adolescent Health and Youth Development.
| Girl Fit - GirlFit is a total body health education program focusing on nutrition, physical activity, self-esteem, and overall wellness for girls ages 10-19. GirlFit is offered twice a month during the school year, and weekly during the summer months. GirlFit is a free program. | Youth Advisory Board (YAB) - The South Health District Youth Advisory Board is a group of middle and high school students who strive to make positive changes in their community in the areas of health and youth development. The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) helps to plan and host community outreach events targeted at teens to address tobacco use, alcohol and drug use, gang violence, teen pregnancy and STD, nutrition and physical activity, and other health issues. Members of the YAB participate in leadership training and are positive role models for their peers. There is no cost to participate in the YAB. South Health District has two Youth Advisory Boards; these are headquartered in Lowndes and Tift counties.
