Snacks are a great way to refuel. Choose snacks from different food groups - a glass of low-fat milk and a few graham crackers, an apple or celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins, or some dry cereal. If you eat smart at other meals, cookies, chips and candy are OK for OCCASIONAL snacking.

Programs & Services

Environmental Services

The mission of Environmental Health Services is to identify, prevent and abate environmental conditions that can adversely impact human health. We do this through many different arenas.

Food Services - The goal of our Food Service program is to minimize food-borne related illnesses. We do this through:
• the regulation and routine inspections of food service establishments such as restaurants, schools, caterers and other related facilities,
• by the planning, reviewing and permitting of food service facilities, and
• the education and training of food service operators, managers and employees.

Land Use Services - The goal of the land use program is to minimize health problems related to untreated human sewage. We do this by
• the permitting and inspection of septic tank systems,
• the permitting and inspection of septage pumping operations,
• investigating complaints related to sewage disposal problems, and
• through subdivision and lot evaluation for issuance of permits for septic tank systems and wells.

Tourist Accommodations - For tourist facilities, our goal is to minimize illness and injury associated with unsanitary or hazardous conditions in motels, hotels, travel trailer parks, bed and breakfast inns, and other tourist accommodations. We do this through:
• regularly inspecting tourist accommodations in our district,
• plan review and permitting of tourist accommodations, and
• investigating complaints related to unsanitary or hazardous conditions in tourist accommodations.

Public Swimming Pools & Recreational Water Parks - Our work with public swimming pools and recreational water parks is an effort to minimize illness and injury associated with contaminated or hazardous conditions in or around the pools or parks. We do this by:
• inspecting public swimming pools and recreational water parks,
• reviewing plans and issuing permits for public swimming pools and recreational water parks, and
• investigating complaints related to unsanitary or unsafe conditions at public swimming pools and recreational water parks.
